Our Vision
At Memorial Elementary, we value and support the education of our diverse community. We inspire all students to become productive and well-rounded members of society. What we do matters because we are preparing future responsible citizens, who are kind and have the tools necessary to become knowledgeable decision makers.
Our Campus Pledge
At Memorial Elementary I roar. I am a respectful, on task, avid learner who is a safe, responsible decision maker. I am excited about learning, and I do my best every day.
History of Memorial Elementary
Memorial Elementary School was established in 1967 in remembrance of the Plano Independent School District students who gave their lives in service to our country in the Armed Forces. Our campus proudly upholds this legacy of honor, service, and patriotism through meaningful traditions and ceremonies held throughout the school year.
These annual traditions include:
- Flag Raising Ceremony and Kindergarten Walk
- Patriotic Presentations to Community Partners
- Recognition of Outstanding Student Citizens
- Veterans Day Celebration
- The Patriotic Parade
- Patriotic-Themed Morning Announcements
- Flag Lowering Ceremony and Fifth Grade Walk
In June 2012, the original building was replaced with a new facility constructed on the same site. The doors of the current campus opened in August 2012, continuing the proud traditions and enduring spirit of Memorial Elementary.
