Kindergarten

My name is Indira Curtis, and I'm a kindergarten teacher at Memorial Elementary. I love working with our youngest students because their excitement and curiosity infuse the classroom with energy and motivation. Their eagerness to explore new concepts and discover the world makes every day a new adventure. Memorial has been my second home for 21 years, a place where I've had the joy of building wonderful relationships with parents, students, and colleagues as part of a fantastic team. I maintain high expectations for every student, fostering a classroom environment built on mutual respect, compassion, and a celebration of diversity. My commitment extends beyond the curriculum; I passionately encourage critical thinking and lifelong learning, ensuring students not only master their subject but also develop the integrity and resilience needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.

I have over 32 years of teaching. I have taught Kindergarten and Second Grade all here in Plano ISD. I received an Elementary Education degree from Jarvis Christian University and my Masters Degree from The University of North Texas in Curriculum and Instruction. I want all students to feel safe and loved while they are with me and I want to instill a love of learning!

I'm a bilingual kindergarten teacher with over 18 years of experience al Memorial Elementary. Throughout my teaching career, I have nurtured and inspired the minds of more than 250 young students, instilling in them a love for learning and the foundational skills necessary for future academic success. I was born and raised in Venezuela. I earned a Bachelor degree in Human Resources from the prestigious UCAB ( Universidad Catolica Andres Bello). I immigrated to Dallas, Texas, 27 years ago with my husband and two children. This journey has taught me the importance of education and the impact it can have on an individual's life.

I'm an educator with four years of teaching experience, including three years in Dallas ISD where I taught 2nd grade, Pre-K, and 5th grade, and one year in Frisco ISD teaching 1st grade. I'm passionate about creating a positive and engaging learning environment where every student feels supported and inspired to grow. This year, I’m thrilled to join Plano ISD and begin a new adventure teaching Kindergarten. I look forward to helping my students build a strong foundation for lifelong learning!
